FRAUD ALERT

  • Please beware of fraudulent visa agents who pretend to be government officials and demand large sums of money claiming to offer support for non-Koreans to enter Korea. For E-9 visa related information, please contact the Mongolian branch of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea or the General Office for Labour and Social Welfare Services.

- General Office for Labour and Social Welfare Services: www.hudulmur-halamj.gov.mn, 7712-1285

  1. In principle, all applicants must apply for visas by themselves. For a delegate's application and passport collection, please see the guidelines provided in the "Visa Application Flow" page on this website.

  2. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of visa application. Those who renew their passport after submitting the visa application can update the passport information on the visa portal by themselves.

  3. All documents must be submitted in original. Diplomas, birth certificates, and marriage certificates will be returned to the applicant after the visa decision is made. However, all other documents will not be returned. All documents must be within the effective date as stated on the document. If a document does not include the information on the effective date, then it must have been issued within the last three months prior to the date of application.

  4. All documents issued by the Mongolian government (for example, birth certificates and marriage certificates) must be printed out from E-Mongolia. If it is not feasible to obtain a document from E-Mongolia, then the applicant should submit the document with the original (for example, original birth certificates and original marriage certificates).

  5. During the application review process, additional documents or interviews can be requested from the applicant.

  6. If an applicant provides forged or falsified documents or associates with visa brokers two or more times, the applicant may be prosecuted by the Mongolian authorities and the applicant's entry to the Republic of Korea will be prohibited in accordance with the related regulations.

  7. Providing false information in the Visa Application Form such as the purpose of visit, contact information, and employment details will lead to visa refusal and the applicant will be restricted from future applications for a certain period of time.

  8. Possession of a visa does not entitle the bearer to enter the Republic of Korea upon arrival at the port of entry if s/he is found inadmissible.

  9. In case an applicant is applying for a long-term visa or the visas designated by the Ministry of Justice, the applicant must submit tuberculosis (TB) test report issued from one of the designated hospitals. The TB test report is mandatory for all applicants who are applying for long-term visas, even when the period of stay is less than 90 days. The TB test reports are effective only when issued from one of the designated hospitals within the last three months prior to the date of application. Please be informed that the TB test format and procedures have been updated in December 2022. Please scroll down and check the list of the designated hospitals for TB test reports. (Exception: Those who are applying for diplomat/official visas, minor children below age 6, pregnant women).

  10. Dual citizenship holders (Korean and Mongolian) are not applicable for visa applications to Korea. If a dual citizenship holder does not possess a passport issued by the Republic of Korea, please visit the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Mongolia and apply for a passport. For limited cases where a dual citizenship holder has an unavoidable reason that bars the applicant from entering the country with the Korean passport, then s/he can apply for short-term general (C-3) visas.

  11. In the event of exerting undue pressure on the staff, for example, using abusive language, physical assault, or intimidation/threatening, the visa application can be rejected, and future applications can be restricted for up to 3 years. Where false statements or forged/counterfeit documents are provided, the visa application can be rejected, and future applications can be restricted for up to 3 years. The inviter’s actions as such can also affect the visa decision. Please be informed of the above to avoid any issues.

  12. After a refusal, the applicant must wait for 6 months to resubmit visa applications. For details, please scroll down and check the guidelines from this page.
  13. Please note that C-3 visa cannot be issued to those coming to the ROK for profit-making.
  14. Please be aware of misinformation regarding the Korean visa. More information about the visa types not listed in the Visa Finder can be found that Hi Korea website. For more information about the Confirmation of Visa Issuance, please consult the Korean Immigration Service.

Restriction Period of Resubmitting Visa Application

- After a refusal, you must wait for 6 months to resubmit your visa application.

- The above restriction period is applied regardless of the visa type, including when you are planning to resubmit the application for a different visa type.

- The above restriction period does not apply to a visa application with the Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance (CCVI) or the exceptional cases under the Marriage Migrant (F-6) visa as stated in the visa finder. In principle, all persons who are reapplying for the F-6 visa shall wait for 6 months for resubmission. For the below two cases, however, there is no time restriction even when the last refusal decision was notified less than 6 months ago.

  • If the F-6 applicant is pregnant or gave birth.
  • If the F-6 applicant and the spouse registered their marriage more than a year ago from the date of the application and lived together for more than 6 months after the registration

Limiting the Period of Stay in Korea for Foreign Nationals

From July 1, 2021, Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea will be implementing a policy of limiting the period of stay in Korea for foreign nationals to the validity period of one’s passport.

The Ministry of Justice is introducing this new policy in order to respond to the increase in violations of the immigration laws, such as failing to report the changes in passport information, and to the increasing challenges in identifying the accurate status of entry and departure of foreign nationals to and from Korea.

For example, even if a person is eligible for an extension of the period of stay for 2 years according to the visa type, if the validity period of the passport remains only 6 months, the period of stay is extended only by 6 months.

Please be informed of this new policy and check the remaining period of your passport validity when planning your trip to Korea.

Declaration of Accommodation by Short-term Foreign Residents

Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea implements the declaration of accommodation by short-term foreign residents policy as of 10 December 2020. Foreign residents holding short-term visas such as B-1 (visa exempted), B-2 (Tourism/transit), C-1 (Short-term news coverage), C-3 (Short-term visit), or C-4 (Short-term employment) should present a passport or a travel document to the owner of the accommodation facility. A breach of this requirement will result in a fine of up to KRW 500,000.

The persons who hold alien registration cards, overseas Korean resident cards, permanent resident cards, or US army on active duty and civilian component (civilian employees) in accordance with the ROK-US Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) are long-term residents, therefore, not applicable to the above.

Bank Statement Summary Requirement

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea has issued a new regulation which pertains to all applicants whose visa type demands the submission of their bank statement. Starting from April 7, 2020, all Mongolian citizens and third country nationals wishing to apply for a visa type for which their bank statement is listed as required supporting documentation, are required to also submit a bank statement summary issued by their bank. Please note that in absence of the bank statement summary, the visa application will not be considered by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

Forgery and Fraudulent Documents

Due to increases in irregular migration from Mongolia to Korea and use of illegitimate visa brokers, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea has instituted more rigorous document verification processes to detect forged and falsified documents. Forgery and document falsification are violations of both Mongolia and Korean law.

Provision of forged or falsified documents may be prosecuted by Mongolian authorities and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea will prohibit you from re-applying for a Korean visa.

Examples of illegal acts include:

  • Falsifying the ownership of a social insurance certificate
  • Falsifying the ownership of a tax certificate
  • Pretending to be a student
  • Falsifying a marriage certificate with a multiple entry visa owner to obtain another multiple entry visa
  • Bribing any individual to obtain a visa, particularly those connected with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea
Students

Before applying for a student visa, please check the university or the educational institution that you are planning to attend from the International Education Quality Assurance System on the Study in Korea website. The related information can be found on the University & College menu of the website.

All students must provide original versions and copies of degrees and transcripts from the highest level of education obtained. Original versions will be submitted to the Korean Embassy and returned to the applicant only after a decision has been rendered.
