Submit your application

You can submit a visa application at the IOM Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) or at one of the authorized agencies. The address and contact information of the IOM KVAC and the authorized agencies can be found here

Submit at the IOM KVAC 

Before proceeding, please check all important notices and the VISA FINDER here. 

1. Determine the appropriate visa type. 

2. Prepare your documentation.  

3. Visit the KVAC

4. Make the necessary payment. 

  • Make payment for the KVAC service fee and any other optional service fees to KVAC’s Mongolian Tugrik (MNT) account. 
  • If applicable, pay the visa fee to KVAC’s US Dollar (USD) account. 
  • KVAC will provide the receipts for the payments. Please check if you have received the receipt upon the visa application. Make sure to bring the receipt when you or the delegate return for passport collection. 

5. Submit the bank slip(s) and your application documents to KVAC. KVAC Visa Support Assistant will check if all application documents are complete. 

6. KVAC will further review the completeness of the application documents and enter the data into the Korea Visa Portal. 

7. KVAC will deliver the application documents to the Korean Embassy in Ulaanbaatar. 

8. The Korean Embassy will review the application and make a decision. 

9. KVAC will collect your passport with a visa decision from the Korean Embassy.  

10. KVAC will call you on the provided telephone number for passport collection. 

11. Collect your passport at KVAC. 

Submit at the Agencies

5. Submit the bank slip(s) and your application documents to the agency. 

6. Agency will deliver your visa application documents to KVAC. KVAC Visa Support Assistant will check if all application documents are complete. 

7. KVAC will further review the completeness of the application documents and enter the data into the Korea Visa Portal. 

8. KVAC will deliver the application documents to the Korean Embassy in Ulaanbaatar. 

9. The Korean embassy will review the application and make a decision. 

10. KVAC will collect the passport with a visa decision from the Korean Embassy. 

11. KVAC will return your passport and documentation to the respective agencies where you submitted the application. 

12. Collect your passport at the agency.

  • The Korean version of the Notarized Delegation of Authority letter is mandatory. If the translated letter is missing, the delegate will not be able to submit the application.   
  • If the delegate who applied for the applicant’s visa is planning to act as a delegate again to collect the passport after when the visa decision is made by the embassy, please describe this information in detail in the Delegation of Authority letter so that you don’t have to prepare a separate letter for delegating passport collection.  

 

Processing Time

Processing time may vary depending on: 

  • Visa type; 
  • Complexity of the documentation; 
  • Completeness and accurateness of documentation and provided information; 
  • Need for interview; and 
  • Seasonal demand. 

Upon receiving visa application documentation from KVAC, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Mongolia requires below time to process a visa application. The exact processing time may vary depending on the visa type. 

  • Medical Tourism Visa, Application with Confirmation of Visa Issuance : 7 working days 

  • Visa for individuals invited by institutions or immediate family members, Study Visa: 20 working days 

  • Tourism VISA including multi entry VISA: 80 working days 

  • F-1-5: 80 working days

  • F-6: more than 80 working days

Please consider both the processing time and the expiry date of the visa when you plan to apply. It is highly recommended to submit the application well in advance of the planned departure date. 

In case of emergencies, the Embassy may consider expediting the process provided there is a reasonable and attestable reason. Please provide a detailed explanation when submitting the application. 

Passport Collection

Once you have been notified that a decision has been made by the embassy, your passport will be returned to you. Please make sure to bring the following required documents for passport collection at KVAC.  

Temporary Passport Return

You may request a temporary passport return after your Korea visa application submission. Please note that your visa application status on the visa portal (www.visa.go.kr) must be 'application received' for the request. If the status is either not available or 'under review', please request an application withdrawn at the ROK Embassy.

- You can make the temporary passport return request at the ROK Embassy on weekdays between 09:00 and 11:30.

- The passport will be available for collection at the KVAC from 14:00 after two working days.

- The passport must be returned to the KVAC within 4 weeks. Failure to do so will result in the rejection of your visa application.

- The application number must be attached to the passport when returned.

 

Collection by Yourself 

If you are planning to collect your own application at KVAC, please bring all the below required documents for verification. If any of the below required documents are missing, the passport will not be returned. 

- Your (the applicant’s) official ID with a photo of yourself issued by the government 

- If you have applied at KVAC in person, please bring the receipt issued by KVAC upon application. 

Collection by Delegate 

If you are planning to collect your application at KVAC via a delegate, please make sure the delegate can bring all the below required documents for verification. If any of the below required documents is missing, the passport will not be returned to the delegate. 

If the delegate is the spouse, the parent(s), the child(ren), the grandparent(s), or the grandchild(ren) of the applicant, the delegate must bring all the below required documents. If any of the below required documents is missing, the passport will not be returned to the delegate. 

- Your (the applicant’s) official ID with a photo of your face issued by the government 

- The delegate’s official ID with a photo of the delegate issued by the government 

- If you/delegate have applied at KVAC in person, please bring the receipt issued by KVAC upon application. 

- Family reference document of the applicant or the delegate 

  • This is required to prove that the applicant and the delegate are direct family members that fall under the above categories.  

- Delegation of Authority letter (Please click here for the template) 

  • Even if the applicant and the delegate are direct family members that fall under the above categories, the applicant and the delegate need to prepare and submit the Delegation of Authority letter to collect the passport at KVAC. 
  • The letter must clearly mention the activity that is delegated. (e.g. personal information of the applicant and the delegate, passport collection by who, for whom, on which date, and at where) If the letter does not meet the required standards, the passport will not be returned. The template for a Delegation of Authority letter can be found here.  
  • The letter will be kept at KVAC and discarded after 14 days from the day when the applicant or the eligible delegate collects the passport.  

If the delegate is any extended family member other than the above such as (but not limited to) sibling(s), uncle(s), aunt(s), or cousin(s), the delegate must bring all the below required documents. If any of the below required documents is missing, the passport will not be returned to the delegate. 

- Your (the applicant’s) official ID with a photo of your face issued by the government 

- The delegate’s official ID with a photo of the delegate issued by the government 

- If you/delegate have applied at KVAC in person, please bring the receipt issued by KVAC upon application. 

- Family reference documents of the applicant and the delegate 

  • These are required to prove that the applicant and the delegate are related family members. 

- Notarized Delegation of Authority letter 

  • The letter must be notarized and clearly mention the activity that is delegated. (e.g. personal information of the applicant and the delegate, passport collection by who, for whom, on which date, and at where) If the letter does not meet the required standards, the passport will not be returned. 
  • If the same delegate who applied for the applicant’s visa is planning to act as a delegate again to collect the passport, please ensure this information is described in detail when you prepare the Delegation of Authority letter from the beginning. If then, you may not have to prepare a separate letter for delegating passport collection. 

 - Translated document of the Notarized Delegation of Authority letter 

  • The Korean version of the Notarized Delegation of Authority letter is mandatory. If the translated letter is missing, the passport will not be returned. 

Track your application

To track your application status, please go to the “Check Application Status and Print” page of the Korea Visa Portal (visa.go.kr). 

- Please select “Diplomatic Office” among the “Type of Applications”. 

- Provide all required information including the applicant’s passport number, the applicant’s name in English as shown in the passport, and the applicant’s date of birth.

Visa processing times may vary depending on: 

- Visa type; 

- Complexity of the documentation; 

- Completeness and accurateness of documentation and provided information; 

- Need for interview; and 

- Seasonal demand. 

Upon receiving visa application documentation from KVAC, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Mongolia requires 14 working days to process a visa application. The exact processing time may vary depending on the visa type. For example, a family member of a marriage migrant visa (F-1-5) may take one month from the date of application for processing. A marriage migrant visa (F-6) may take two months from the date of application for processing. Depending on the circumstances, it may take more time. On the other hand, single visas are valid for 90 days before the expiry date. Please consider both the processing time and the expiry date of the visa when you plan to apply. It is highly recommended to submit the application well in advance of the planned departure date.
